How many times have you said, “If only I could fave this journal…?”

Well, now you can!

journalfav is a project that aims to highlight the great journals that can be found around dA.

:sun: If you’d like to know how to submit a journal to us, so you can fave it, please read our guidelines here.

:spotlight-right: Our November Favourite Faves! :spotlight-left:

It wasn’t easy picking just a few of the journals people have sent in to feature here. We received some remarkable suggestions, and it was a pleasure to read and feature them all. However, these are the ones we’d like to give special attention to this month:

:sun: queenhrosie : You Heard The Man You Love

featured by Negated :

Heartrending. A woman who doesn't 'like the way I can't find the right kind of "I'm sorry" that would really matter' but knows exactly how to say Thank You.

An excerpt:

I believe you, when you catch me scorpions, poke holes in my old bean jar so I can catch insects on the desert roads. I believe you when you tell me stories involving guns and baton-beatings and you laugh about the kitchen knife one man had in his satchel like it wasn't dangerous at all. I believe you when you laugh bigger than the world. I believe you when you say you never dated, slept with, hung around with anyone other woman before me, as though I popped you into existence by just calling you on the telephone.

I believe you when you call me beautiful, it is only the suitcases falling out of my boat that makes me think otherwise, it's not your fault. I believe you in the middle of the clearing saying shhh a mountain lion might be stalking us. I believe you dancing in the shower, brushing your teeth, biting my shoulders, saying yes you agree, this place kind of sucks, but at least we've got each other right. Right.

:sun: NLY: a tale

featured by CailinLiath :

Has anyone sent you Darien's entire journal collection yet? How about his latest?

An excerpt:

I dragged a stack of nine encyclopedias into my room and read them. When I wasn't reading, I divied them into three piles of three, having selected books which ultimately amounted to the same height when stacked as such. One for my toes, two for my fists. Every hour on the hour I would do 10 pushups, sometimes losing balance and slamming my head to the floor as the books scattered, but my father had done pushups on these books with me and my sister on his back, so I knew it could be done...All I knew was that my father had done pushups on books, and so I did pushups on books...

Aside from a dizzying conclusion, which invokes the puissant location of memory in art and argues the necessity of subjectivity for objective interpretation, he shares some sparkling memories - bright and present and tangible.

:sun: zphoenixdownz: twelve tons of titanium

featured by Adeimantus :

I love this journal entry by zphoenixdownz! He takes the Star Spangled Banner and turns it upside down into one of the better political rants I've read on DA. Bravo, and well said!

An excerpt:

whose broad stripes and bright stars
will look mighty damn good on the runway this year
and girls don't forget to wear fur-lined boots with your capris

through the perilous fight we went back to our meaningless lives
content to dream about the greater good at our humdrum jobs

o'er the ramparts we watch fox news
relaxing on the couch with the thought
that our version of events is socially palatable

:sun: TheGlome: Dream Journal #3

featured by lovetodeviate :

TheGlome's most recent journal, Dream Journal #3, gave me the urge to look back and read his previous journals; I picked "Imagination" as my favourite. The 50 comments it received says one thing: TheGlome is a fascinating human being and knows how to show it. To me, a journal is an extension of oneself, a kind of creative self-analysis. In his journal entry, "Imagination", TheGlome has put his strikingly complex mind on page (well, an internet page). An excellent read!

An excerpt:

I do not know if any of this is real. This troubles me.

On the way back home, something watched me from the bottom of a weeping willow next to a stream. It was crouched there underneath the longest branches of the tree. I imagined it often used those branches as ropes to swing from and climb on. I cannot picture it perfectly; it was only a flash; but it was a small, spindly thing; it was like I had suddenly found a raccoon in my headlights. I felt initial abhorrence at it but that was replaced by a slight sense of pity; it was terribly frightened of me and the fact that I knew it was there.

These things are not my enemies; and this creature sensed my fleeting concern for it. I felt it inching closer to me even as I left it. Reaching out to me. Perhaps I was the only thing that had seen it in a long time.
